Should You Use A Sunroom Kit, Or Find A Local Contractor

A sunroom kit can be a great way to quickly and conveniently add a sunroom area to your home, but it is not always the best choice for all situations. You should shop around and learn as much as you can about available kits and carefully consider which ones are well suited for your available space, house design, and budget.

Sunroom Kit

A sunroom kit can vary a great deal in its contents. Some contain only the basics, such as building instructions and a materials list, while others are truly complete kits that include all necessary materials and instructions for building the sunroom on your home. Read the fine print carefully so that you know exactly what is included in a particular kit before you buy it. Do you have the expertise to install it yourself? Will you need help from a professional contractor? Do you have the time to build it on your own? Can you recruit a friend or relative to help you put the kit together? Another important aspect is customer support and help. Does the kit manufacturer offer free telephone support or are you on your own? Are you comfortable with the amount of support provided?

Before deciding whether or not a kit is a good choice for you, do some research into the materials and construction of the kits you are considering. Some use aluminum framing, some use wood cladding, some are designed to accommodate basic single pane glass, and some are designed for higher end double or even triple pane glass. What kind of framing is best for your climate and style of home? Is that kind of framing available with the kit design you are considering? If it isn't, can you get that kind of framing as an upgrade or addition to the kit? Pay attention to the site preparation requirements, too. Some kits require very specific preparation while others have more flexibility. Once you consider all of these issues and considerations you will be better able to decide if you should use a sunroom kit.
