Since it started in 2005, there hasn't been a typical Civil Partnership ceremony that you can point to and define as "the norm". Full commitment ceremonies have recently became a popular choice for same sex couples in the UK.

A full commitment ceremony includes readings, music, the declaration of vows, the Signing of a Civil Partnership document and the exchange of rings. The whole gathering will be administered by the Registrar.

Readings

Select readings and poetry that are special to you. Your ceremony pack includes over a hundred suitable readings and of course you might want to include your own favourites.

Music

Live music is a popular choice. You can choose whatever music is special to you both is ranging from pop, jazz, classical, folk or even rock and roll. Remember that music sets a very good mood in this special occasion.

The Declaration of Vows

It's customary for the vows to be spoken, although they are optional. But it will indeed be a highlight if the couples can express the way they feel about each other in their own words.

Signing of the Civil Partnership Document

Following the vows, the couple and their two witnesses will be asked to sign the Civil Partnership Schedule. Music can be played to entertain the guests while these formalities take place.

Exchange of the Rings

The couples may decide on any symbolic gestures and cultural inclusions they might like to exchange or if the couples choose to do so, rings are exchanged.

Once the ring or any jewellery has been exchanged the couple, it is the responsibility of the Registrar to announce and present the couple as they are now Civil Partners. If this event is forthcoming, as invited guests, we need to prepare by finding the appropriate dress and the perfect civil partnership gifts
