With only one, single expandability option, things couldn't be simpler with the HP LaserJet P2035, a unit designed for users with the most minimal of needs as far as print versatility, who still demand notably fast print speeds and an affordable price.

Only two versions of the HP LaserJet P2035 are available; the base model and the HP LaserJet P2035n network ready version. With no memory expansion options or additional paper trays available, what you see is what you get when you open the box. Different variations on network capabilities are, however, available for purchase separately, such as an external wireless accessory, but that is all.

Though the HP LaserJet P2035 is a stripped down unit, HP has not skimped on raw speed, and the unit pumps out up to 30 pages per minute onto letter sized paper. Additionally, HP's Instant On fuser technology allows for a warm up time of virtually zero, and a first page out time of approximately 8 seconds. With such a fast time for first page out, the unit is ideal for those who most commonly print in small quantities.

A 266 MHz processor is just powerful enough to ensure that print speeds remain at their peak, while an on board memory of 16 MBs should prove to be just enough for text documents. Unfortunately, without memory expansion options, complex print projects and imagery will almost certainly suffer a degree of slowdown. Additionally, the HP LaserJet P2035 is capable of only a 600 x 600 dot per inch print resolution, even when utilizing resolution enhancement, making it easily one of the lowest image quality printers available, and not suitable for photos of any kind.

With a maximum monthly duty cycle of up to 25,000 pages, the HP LaserJet P2035 is not entirely limited as far as heavy paper output, though HP does recommend only a 500 to 2,500 page monthly volume for maximum lifespan. Paper handling abilities come in the form of a single 250 sheet letter or legal sized tray, and a helpful 50 sheet multipurpose tray that is compatible with special media types such as custom letterhead and card stock.

While the output tray holds up to 150 sheets, no paper storage expansion options are available for the HP LaserJet P2035. The device is also void of any luxury hardware additions such as an automatic duplexor, though manual duplexing is made possible by included software. A single high speed USB 2.0 port is the only connectivity option left open on the base model, while the HP LaserJet P2035n also includes an Ethernet port.

The HP LaserJet P2035 comes in a compact package of only 14.4 in x 14.5 in x 10.1 in (W x D x H) and a weight of 21.8 lbs, making it the perfect device for those looking to save a little space on their desk, but still maintain advanced print speeds. HP's limited one year warranty and replacement plan also contributes to the printer's overall value, and ensures customer satisfaction from this unique model.
