A customer service rep is employed by different types of companies throughout the country and serves as a direct contact to customers. They are responsible for ensuring that customers receive an adequate level of help when it comes to questions and concerns.

All client service delegates interact with clients to supply information in response to inquiries about anything from products to services and to handle can resolve complaints. These complaints can be handled through various means:

* by telephone

* e-mail

* regular mail

* fax ... or

* in person.

Some customer service representatives handle general questions and complaints, whereas other delegates specialize in a particular area. Inquiries mostly involve routine questions and requests, for example representatives may be asked to provide a client with a credit card balance or check on a status of an order that has been placed.

Requiring the answers to certain question usually seeds simple looking up information on their computers. In handling customers' complaints, client services representatives must attempt to resolve the problem accordingly. These questions may involve the representatives questioning and determining the validity of a complaint, then offer possible solutions.

A client customer service rep is required to follow up an individual customer until all questions are answered or all issues are resolved. A few of these delegates help people decide on what service would best suite their needs. They may even help clients in completing purchases or transactions.

The primary function of customer services is not sales, although some may spend a great amount of time with clients encouraging them to buy additional products or services. Representatives may also make changes or updates to a customer's profile or account information. They may keep records of updates and maintain database of information.

A number of such service delegates use computers and telephones extensively in their work. They frequently enter information into a PC as they're communicating with customers. Often companies consume large amounts of data, such as account information, that can de displayed while the delegate is talking to the client over the phone so that all questions will be answered.

A customer service rep may also have access to information such as answers to the most common client questions and provide guidelines for dealing with those complaints, in the event they are questioned or face a situation to which they do not know how to respond.
