Believe What You Want

We do that you know. We live in denial a lot too. We are all inculturated in some fashion or another. Our parents brought us into the world under a set of conditions that started us on our journey somewhere. The geographical location of our childhood, the kids we knew, the school we went to, and then the church experiences we encountered set up belief systems that sent us into the world we mentally live in today.

And we think we have it all together, that we know what we know. How foolish.

For every Scripture that you can provide me that supports A, I can give you one denies A. You know it's so and it's the reason we have so much division. The core difficulty though involves our image of the word and concept- FATHER. We read that "All that the Father has is mine" but what does the reality of you life say? God's poor? God's sick? God can't keep a relationship, etc.?

Why couldn't the prodigal sons homebound brother see what he had?

He chose to believe that obedience was the goal. He chose to have a believe that his relationship with Dad was what it was. He chose to believe what he wanted to. We all do. And, how's THAT working out for you Dr. Phil? I've believed so many things that simply weren't so. I've believed so many things that I no longer believe. That's not spilt milk emotionalism.

All of us have a responsibility for the life we live. None of us can escape the responsibility for the place we find ourselves in life. There are traumatic and catastrophic events that come into our life, but let's not use those exceptions as an excuse to deny the rules. Nor are we talking about fame, riches, and prosperity. In believing what you want, does it cause people to describe you as a happy, loving, compassionate, forgiving, tolerant, and non-judgmental?

If not, maybe you might alter some of what you believe.  :-)

As a spiritual-futurist, I interpret current events in light of possible macro-universal forces at play leading up to 2012, but not limited to it.
