Everyone would love to have perfect 20/20 vision but plenty of us cannot see properly without the aid of some kind of assistance.

Most often we use glasses or contact lenses to help us in this respect. Some people use both, depending on the situation, what suits them most and their own personal preferences.

There is a third choice available, and that is LASIK eye surgery. This entails using a laser to correct any deformities in the corneal part of your eye. This procedure is very successful, but the question is whether it is suitable for you or not.

For some people the idea of wearing glasses doesn't bother them. In fact their glasses may be as much a part of their character and appearance as the colour of their eyes. The same applies to contact lenses. Not everyone finds them a hassle to put in, take out and keep clean. If the idea of correcting your vision appeals to you, it is worth considering all the aspects of it first. This will enable you to discover whether LASIK surgery would be good for you.

The actual job you do could be a factor to consider. If you do close up work you might find wearing glasses to be an annoyance. Yet if you are long sighted you will need to wear them to be able to do your work. In this situation eye surgery could solve your problems and get rid of the need to wear glasses at all. After surgery - that tends to last no more than 15 minutes - it is suggested that patients take up to a week off work to recover fully.

Not everyone is suitable for LASIK but if you have what is called steady vision you stand a better chance of being allowed to undergo laser surgery. This is because the chances of correcting your vision are much higher. If you always need a different prescription whenever you visit the optician - and you do so more frequently than 12 months at a time - then you may have to wait until things settle down.

The LASIK eye surgery cost is one of the key factors to consider for many people and yet it often turns out to be cheaper than is expected - often procedures start from the same sort of price some people pay for glasses. So if you are thinking of having this surgery to improve your vision, it might be closer than you think.
