Keep Your Business Cards Updated

When going to various events such as tradeshows and anywhere else where you know you're going to get a lot of marketing in, I've noticed that many companies will have certain themes that they're pushing. Maybe this boils down to a new product release they have that they're boosting up, or maybe they've had a recent slash in prices and all of their focus is centered on this.

Now, the way they usually do this is by having different print outs mentioning it, maybe posters up behind their booth, anything they can to focus on this new push in their marketing.

But one thing I find interesting is that they very rarely make any changes to their business cards. When they print business cards they stick with the same style or same format and have no additional mention of this marketing push.

The reason why I take note of this is because most often the main thing I take with me from these tradeshow are various business cards. This is the most important thing to me because it gives me access to a lot of different contact information, and helps me to know who the companies are I had interest in.

Now, often these marketing pushes are fairly big deals and will be long lasting. Take the product release example. It isn't as if they're temporarily releasing the product. This is going to be a permanent part of their company from there on, which is why I think it can be very helpful to print business cards before each event that specifically mention what your current marketing is all about.

Have a picture of the product on the back of the business card along with a few details about it. Maybe have a line underneath your company name mentioning your new marketing approach.

Each time you go to a different tradeshow ask yourself what kind of overall theme you plan on using and see if you can incorporate it into your business card designs. These are, after all, what people are going to take away from the show, so this can be one of the most important things to use for advertising your product.

The great thing about using the back of the business card is that you don't have to worry about altering your current design for the front of your card, which is especially important if you particularly like your business card design.

Just have a few templates set up with your normal business card design on the front and space for an update or advertisement for your current marketing on the back. Not only will people be able to bring your contact information home with your business card, but they'll also be able to take home details on your current marketing.
