The Internet has been around for quite some time. Ever since its debut, a lot of things were revolutionized. Its fast-paced and adaptable nature made it a hospitable host for a lot of purposes. Just as resilient, gambling and live casinos has been around for centuries. Hundreds of years have passed since the concept was invented. From the small Italian houses called casinis to extravagant, brightly lit buildings called casinos, gambling has indeed come a long way. Now, it is very much a part of life, and has passed over being a leisurely activity and has now transcended into a lifestyle, a community, and a means of living, especially with the entrance of live casinos online.

For these two entities to merge together is the most natural thing in the world, as both are popular and has quite a following. But the transition of gambling onto the Internet was not as exciting as gambling is and as fast-paced as the Internet is. On the contrary, the journey of gambling towards the Internet was a long one. It was also lengthened because its progress was affected by the progress of computers and the Internet. During the 1970's, gambling took the first step towards the Internet with the arrival of the first gambling games that can be played on the computer. It also took several years for the computer to be ready to handle computer games. Years after, the World Wide Web opened up its doors as well. Again, gambling waited on the sidelines as the Internet set the stage for an optimized live casino experience. Although the Internet has been around for quite some time now, it took some time for gambling to make it online.

The history of online live casinos is wrought with gambling laws and technological advances. The island countries named Antigua and Barbuda means a lot in the history of online gambling. In 1994, these island countries received legal gambling licenses, which played a major role in pushing online casinos to the brink of introduction. Within the next two years after Antigua and Barbuda received gambling licenses, so much happened that by 1996, the first ever online casino was ready enough to take the first bet. In a span of two years, the software development company called Microgaming came up with the online casino software concept. Up until now, a number of online casinos still use Microgaming software.

Even when Microgaming made it possible to for games to be played online, the financial aspect of the matter still needed to be resolved. The Internet, at that time, was not yet entirely prepared to handle monetary transactions. In 1995, however, an online security company called CryptoLogic debuted in 1995 and made this possible. And finally, the stage was set for the first casino, and it took only a short time for it to be actualized. The first casino debuted in 1996, under the name of Inter Casino.

However, aside from challenges in terms of technological capabilities, online gambling also faced overwhelming opposition. Legal battles ensued, with the opposing side led by Senator Jon Kyl and some other political personalities. When no bills were successfully passed to prevent online gambling from reaching the public sphere, the opponents turned to working against the wire transfer companies and credit card companies to try to prevent people from being able to deposit any money into their online gambling accounts.

None of the efforts to stop online gambling from its rapid rise worked. Although it took twenty five years for online live casinos to completely create a full online presence, it was a long road worth taking. For now, online casinos are not just part of a trend. It is a lifestyle, just as gambling really is supposed to be.
