Faced With So Much Choice, Focus on You

Previously I have talked about where Iron designs are going and why. A number of queries and questions have come up. A common question remains: which golfers should play with forged and which should play with other compositions.

Much as the magazines and adverts would try to simplify that answer, it isn't a sensible place to start any selection process. That's the centre of any argument that I am

going to make. The process is about you, your golf game, your circumstances:

1. Start with your budget and what you are prepared to spend,

2. How do you strike your Irons currently (are you consistent, do you have a higher or lower trajectory, do you push or pull, draw or fade),

3. What is the strength of your Iron game and where do you lose shots,

4. What is important to you in looks, feel, brand and what priority do you place on results over those softer requirements,

5. Now we can look at a much narrower list of clubs that

fit your selection criteria rather than the interests of an advert or a promotion that somebody has screaming from the middle of the newspaper, golf mag or internet page.

Approached this way you are going to be 'investing' in a product that has a great chance of delivering pay-off. The next step is to make sure that the club is built (at no extra charge) to fit you. That is going give you a club head whose design is built to improve your game and a club that is going to work WITH your setup and swing.
