Stoicism and Apathy as Subjected to Criticism

I personally would find stoicism to be the most absurd and extremely difficult to follow. But at the same time I would not find it too demanding to criticize! I do not understand how on earth a person can be impassive if he appreciates his life, what he loves and what he owes? If a kid injures his toe, should his mom leave him to bleed to death and this way to kill him, just because of the fact that the kid broke his toe was a ‘sign'? Nowadays psychologists and advisors insist in acting in the opposite to this way, showing our feelings .For instance, Dr. Bill De Foore, the author of the one of the recent psychology books having the title ‘'Anger: Deal with It, Heal with it, Stop It from Killing You', stimulates his readers to always say to themselves all of their feelings and emotions are OK with them.
Now, let‘s take indifference into consideration. It is like a confirmed, contagious disease: one person's inertness may also negatively influence his neighbors. Without any private action and active complicity in society, we are certainly doomed, for more and more frequent apathy attacks. Since apathy is very contagious the stability of our society depends upon everyone's ability to resist it. Then comes people's ambitions .... How to live life without them? How does a person get what he wants when there is no any extra drive and resoluteness that is so important in achieving some aim? Is it possible to live without striving for excellence? Definitely not!
I am not sure that anyone who followed Stoic philosophy could truly fit the description of a real Stoic as Zeno classified them.
