Do You Believe In Ghosts
No, really. I don't mean the things Scooby Doo chases or runs away from. They always turn out to be quite human anyway, don't they? There is always a rational (by cartoon standards) explanation.
But, can ghosts exist in reality? How much thought have you ever given to them? Ghosts are said to be invisible, so you wouldn't expect to see them anyway. Because you can't see them, or even detect them in any other way, they can't exist, surely. That's the argument I have heard many times over the years.
But consider this. In your living room there is almost certainly a box with a screen. Inside that box is a whole array of wires and electronic gubbins that few of us can make any sense of. Attached to the box is a plug, which is pushed into the electric socket on the wall. Yes, I am talking about a television set.
Now, if you switch that television set on and select a channel you will see pictures of things, people or places, or a combination of any or all of them. Have you thought how those pictures got there, from a studio which might be many hundreds, or even thousands, of miles away?
Easy. The pictures are sent by electro-magnetic waves through the air. Look around you, though. Can you see any waves, or pictures or even anything? No? Does that prove they aren't there?
To even detect those waves you need the right equipment, which in its turn needs to be set to the right frequency. Then you can see what is being sent out as a broadcast. If you alter the frequency you lose that picture and maybe get a different one. Could it be that if you had equipment which could be tuned to the right frequency you would be able to detect the supernatural things we talk of? I don't know, but I don't discount the possibility.
Remember, from quite basic science lessons: matter cannot be made or destroyed, and energy cannot be made or destroyed, but can be changed into a different form of energy. Ghosts are said to be the spirits of dead people. Spirits are, maybe, the life forces which so far science has been unable to detect, roaming the earth, and only detectable by somebody who has senses tuned to the right frequencies.
