Repair Policies for Satellite Receivers

Almost all of the satellite service providers give you the complete satellite system you will be using for the programming that you will be watching on your TV. The satellite receiver is the nerve center of the system and is the component that is most likely to be the culprit, if your satellite system should go on the blink, as electronic equipment all too often does.

Then there you are, stuck with a broken system that has some sort of malfunction and you need it to work correctly, because you are tied to the service provider, with an extended programming contract. It's your system, because they gave it to you and it is entirely your responsibility to have it repaired, or replaced, because it is your personal property.

That is the truth of the matter. They aren't going to give you another free system, because life just doesn't work that way. Everyone has had their experiences with cheap electronics equipment. You get it home and it looks great, but soon strange things begin to happen. A button sticks and wont work or some element of it goes out and refuses to work correctly. You give it a little shake and you can hear something rattling inside of it and you curse and wish you had spent the few extra bucks for the better item that was on the store shelf next to it.

All of the Hughes receivers that DirecTV uses exclusively are not given to you free of charge. Their high definition receivers cost you some money, but not a lot. This is done to offset the expense of the higher quality that comes with Hughes electronics. They will give you the receiver for standard programming, but a good quality high definition receiver costs more. If a satellite service provider will give you a free high definition receiver, it has to be a cheap brand, because it is economically infeasible for them otherwise.

A satellite system is supposed to be a one shot deal. You bring it home and that is supposed to be the last time you want to mess with it. The folks at DirecTV know this and that is why they use only Hughes equipment. Hughes receivers are solid work horses that have a long track record of reliability that you can count on every time you turn yours on. What some satellite service providers do, is give their receiver snazzy impressive names, that are meant to sound high tech. The people at DirecTV know that what is important in electronics is what's inside of it, not the flashy name on the outside. Free stuff is great to get, unless it is junk that refuses to work correctly and torments you every time you go to use it. So for the best quality electronics components, you can look to DirecTV and Hughes for your satellite system. Hughes receivers are loaded with great features that you can count on to work properly every time you turn yours on.
