According to the contract, the deal with Wipro Infotech involves provisioning of IT infrastructure on a build-own-operate basis for existing and new branches of HDFC Bank.  And, Wipro will be responsible for providing comprehensive infrastructure management services for data centres, networks and end-user equipment.

According to C N Ram, IT Head, HDFC Bank: “We expect to achieve faster time to market, in expanding our network across the country and optimising our IT costs.  Wipro's expertise across technology platforms, a nationwide support network and the best-in-class processes will ensure consistent and geo-agnostic quality service delivery.”

While, Suresh Vaswani, President - Global IT Service Lines & Wipro Infotech said: “HDFC Bank has always been at the forefront in adopting leading edge technologies and IT services for competitive advantage.  Our total outsourcing practice enables the bank to leverage global best practices for service delivery and technology deployment.  Our focus and investments in the total outsourcing business have enabled us to win this contract of global size.”

Adds, Anand Sankaran, Vice-President, global IT outsourcing, Wipro Infotech: “The key differentiator in the HDFC Bank win was our programme governance framework, our customer-friendly engagement model and technology depth.  All three are critical elements in ensuring long-term success of the relationship.  We launched our total outsourcing business 18 months ago, and this is our fifth consecutive win.”

And, Wipro grows from strength to strength racking up a brilliant score of off-shoring / outsourcing deals.  Adequate proof that Indian service providers have impressed the world with the skills, talent and expertise of their workforce.  While, China and others would like to emulate India’s outsourcing success story, the truth is, they have a lot of catching up to do.  It will be a long time, indeed, before India’s competitors are able to achieve the smooth efficiency of operations that make Indian service providers the world’s first choice!
