SEO Copywriting - The Trap
If you explore these sites you will find that most of them promise that they will teach you how to use search engine optimization to provide you with instant online riches. (Their words, not mine.) They tell you that they will show you how to find the best keywords that have little competition. Along with these promises, their one page websites of 8,000 - 20,000 words will have testimonials from customers that have paid the full price for the system that is offered. But, they are offering it to you at the discounted rate of ---
It amazes me how many otherwise intelligent people buy into this trap. While these offers include valuable information within their downloaded, prepaid programs, it is so well hidden that it would take a CSI team to find them if you had no prior knowledge of internet marketing. Trust me, 95% of these offers carry the same "DNA".
One of the things you will find in these programs are lists of words that are pre-searched for your convenience. They advise that you use these words in your online marketing ventures because there are few entries for these keywords. Lucky you. The problem is that no one will ever search for them. This leaves you essentially just as hidden among the billions of other websites as you were before you spent your $197 for the 'SECRET SYSTEM TO ONLINE RICHES'.
The real secret to search engine optimization using keywords is this:
All the SEO Copywriting Secrets you need to know:
1. Pretend that you are the average internet user looking for the thing you are offering. Then use your Google, Yahoo or other preferred search engine to find other sites of the same sort. The words that you use to search are likely the same words that others will use. Make note of those words that had the fewest entries. They are your search engine optimization words.
2. After finding your keywords, create the content to your site using the keywords that showed the least entries for your product, service or other project. If you have little or no experience writing online content it would be advisable for you to hire someone that does. This expense is well worth it if you find a talented writer with reasonable rates.
3. In the introduction of your Website you will want to use those keywords at least once. If you have keyword phrases on your list be sure to use them verbatim. If at all possible use one of the keywords that you found with few entries as part of the name of your company or Website.
4. Let's imagine that you have one keyword that you found with under 100 entries in your search. You will want to try to use that keyword or phrase once for every 100 words or more. Using that word more than that will cause the search engines to exclude your site altogether.
An easy way to accomplish this entry every 100 words is to make sure that you include it in every third paragraph. Remember that online written content should consist of paragraphs that are no longer than 3-4 sentences. Much more than that will bore the reader and they will move on before ever really exploring your offer.
5. Keep your pages short. When a Website has one long page containing more than 3,000 word what happens is that the visitor will read the first paragraph or two, then he/she will read the first line of a couple of paragraphs. Finally they will either give up and move to another Website or they will scroll to the end of yours to find out what you want to charge them without really knowing what you are offering.
6. Keep it simple and honest. Don't try to show off. One of the things that irritates more and more viewers of Websites these days is the misguided view of some marketing gurus that if they tell the average visitor that the thing they are offering them made him rich, while he/she uses poor grammar or misspelled words throughout the content. Most of us do not like to have our intelligence insulted in such a fashion.
That's it folks. That is all you ever need to know about search engine optimization.
