The most effective marketing gifts or items can be a slogan, joke or saying that sticks in potential clients' heads. Reinforce this by choosing promotional printed pens that advertises your business, service or product in a humorous or unique way.

Get Them Smiling
Do you remember the last time you opened a fortune cookie and read the "fortune" only to realize that it could mean just about anything? A good slogan or catch phrase should be unique to your product or company name. If you don't have a catch phrase, now is the time to get one. No matter if you're in the pencil manufacturing business or you build houses, you need to instill confidence in your company. Making your potential clients smile, even laugh, will do this.

Choose a slogan that states the benefits of your service or product. Answer the question "Why would someone want what I'm offering?" Keep it under 10 words. Add a bit of humor or wit and your slogan is complete.

Consider these comical slogans that have appeared on promotional pens and other products:

"A Breath of French Air"
"A Chip off the Old Block" - Intel
"A Count For All Seasons" - Transylvania
"Are you a Cadbury's Fruit & Nut case?" - Cadbury's Fruit and Nut
"Beanz Meanz Heinz" - Heinz
"Because mums are heroes" - Iceland
"Fight for the Write"
"Keep Walking" - Johnnie Walker
"Live to loaf" - Strongbow
"Thank Crunchie it's Friday" - Crunchie
"Write a Wrong"
"Write Device for the Job"
"Write Hand Man"
"Write on Broadway"
"You Gotta Belize!" - Belize Tourism
"You have a license to deal with us!" - Christensen Motors
"You Have the Powder" - Skiing Association
"You wouldn't wear grandma's doily between your legs, would you?" - Cotton Industry

Fun Function
Besides a punny or humorous slogan, you can impact your potential client base by choosing a novelty pen or one with fun function. Even if the promotional pen isn't used often, it will stick out in the minds of those that receive one.

Flexible promotional pens, like one by Daytona, are fun to play with and functional. Assembled, the pen is an oblong shape with the ballpoint pen tip covered up. Begin to play with it, though, and the pen unfolds to a hook-like shape. These are great for offices with limited space, as users can hang them on hooks when not in use. Starting at less than £0.40 each, these can make a real impact and stand out in a crowd. Great if your slogan contains reference to flexibility or assembly.

Tape measure promotional pens are multi-functional and likely to head anywhere a small bit of measuring and note taking is needed. Does your business "measure up" to the competition? Do your clients want "sizable savings?" With the right slogan, a measuring tape promotional pen can make a huge impact for less than £0.70 a piece.

Customized clip promotional pens can speak volumes if your product or service has a distinguishable image. Beverage bottles and medicine containers, for example, can be replicated as pen clips. For just £0.38 each, you can create product recognition and familiarity.
