Quantitative research has a number of types of information, and main categories of data which can be received from a survey are:
1. Attributes which involve personal and socioeconomic data such as sex, material status, age and occupation. Receiving valid and trustworthy data concerning occupation is much more difficult than it may appear at the beginning.
2. Behavior includes actions which the individual has already done, is doing or may do later on.
3. Attitudes include evaluations and are concerned with the feelings of the individual about an issue. Questions concerning attitudes usually involve scales.
4. Beliefs can usually be evaluated by asking whether something is considered to be true or false.
So as to draw a dividing line between the approaches of qualitative and quantitative research a comparative analysis should be undertaken.

The methods of the qualitative research differ greatly from the methods of the quantitative research. In their approach qualitative research methods are more interactive, dynamic and holistic than quantitative methods which in their turn are more deductive in their argumentations, objective in their observations, their collection is more definite and static as well as analysis and reporting. The reports provided by the qualitative research methods are more narrative and circumstantial, while quantitative research methods provide for the investigations of larger groups of individuals and as a consequence can provide for more generalizations concerning this or that phenomenon. Whatever method is applied for a definite study, all the researchers believe that it should be appropriate for the question that is being investigated. Qualitative methods as well as quantitative methods are underpinned by various aspects of quality, reliability and validity throughout their methodology.
