Did you hear that? It was your ears asking you to take care of them! Our hearing is so basic to us that we often take it for granted, and forget that our ears might need a little tender loving care every once in a while. And for the most part, its true ears are extremely low-maintenance for what complicated mechanisms they are. You ears only want a little bit of attention to be as healthy as possible. So why not hear them out?

Just taking a show is a part of personal hygiene but it doesn't do much to clean out your ears. Keeping in mid the fact that the insides of your ears are very sensitive. So sensitive than even a drop of water can disrupt the function of your ear as well as causing you some pain. So be careful when you are about to clean out your ears. Take all the necessary precautions and be aware if you are have any problems, like an infections etc. Be sure to consult your doctor should you run into any problems.

Put down the cotton swab! Your ears may need a little cleaning every once in a while, but never, ever with a cotton swab. The tissue inside of your ear is extremely delicate, and cleaning your ears with anything smaller than a finger can put you at risk of damaging it. Furthermore, you mostly shouldn't have to clean wax out of your ear at all, since it is normally removed slowly by the body's natural processes. You can clean your outer ear with a mild soap and washcloth, but, for the most part, you should leave the rest of your ear alone. Occasionally, though, a clump of old wax can build up in your ears. In the rare occurrence that you experience a buildup of wax that irritates you or muffles your hearing, still don't use small object to try to move it around. It's dangerous, and probably won't have the desired affect. Instead, use a dropper to deposit a few drops of mineral oil or baby oil into your ear, to soften the blockage and allow it to flow out of the ear on its own. If you try this without success, it's probably best to seek the attention of a doctor.

Cleaning the outsides you're your ears are as important as cleaning the exterior of you ear. Some soap and warm water would suffice however be sure that no water enters the ear.

Lastly, always protect your ears against infection and damage. Wear earplugs while swimming, to avoid ear infections such as swimmer's ear. If you think you have an ear infection, seek medical help immediately, as ear infections can grow dangerous to your hearing and health if let go for too long. Always wearing ear protection when using loud tools, like chainsaws, lawn mowers, and even some big machinery, like tractors. When you listen to music, keep it at a reasonable volume, as exposure to loud sounds can deteriorate your hearing slowly over time. Be especially careful while wearing headphones, and while listening to music in the car- frequently, the sound of your engine doesn't allow you to realize just how loud your music is. Your hearing is precious, so protect it.
