Considering healthy aging is some times not a priority during your working life. As a younger person you tend to go where the money is at; then later you might regret that decision.

Its true becoming a senior and aging doesn't high on your list when you are hungry for money and success. However you may find this has left it own undesireable effects on your future health. With young families and the desire to provide for them many people need to take work which might not be ideal just to support the family. But this could come back to haunt you in your later years.

Many of us have had to work in places that were not good for our health but we all have to make ends meet and work to survive the competitive world we live in. Some places of work are unhealthy due to things like chemicals, dust, and smoke.

For example a job in a wood shop making furniture is bad for lungs and can lead to lung disease. Some machines might require the use of glue or adhesives. Glues and adhesives can produce noxious fumes which can promote respiratory problems. Long term exposure to these sorts of hazards can lead to respiratory dieases and illnes such as asthma and cancer or emphysema.

There are probably not many places less healthy to work than a coal mine It is sad but true but every day a coal miner works down a mine is probably shortening their life span. The damp unhealthy condition down a mining pit combined with coal dust leads to many miners contracting pneumoconiosis or black lung disease. This disease and other respiratory problems all to commonly effect older and even younger miners.

A major employee in some American States is the saw milling industry. It is also unfortunately a job which has a higher than average expectancy of ill health associated with it. It can hardly be suprising when you consider the conditions these workers must endure. They work in extreme cold and are always at risk of accidents in the work place. Serious injuries are still quite common. Whilst a young healthy worker in their 20-30's may recover to full health those with more mature bones would likely be forced out of work as older bones repair much slower and break more easily.

Fishermen working in the fishing industry are exposed to extreme danger and risk to their health as well. Maturing years does not prevent these hardened men venturing out in all weathers often risking their lives in high seas and dangerous waters. A fishermans work is physically punishing and dangerous, accidents and injuries are quite common. Back injury is especially common amongst older fisherman. Looking on the bright side despite their daily peril they do get plenty of fresh air.

Trucking is another job where workers are exposed to frequent risk and a lifestyle which can effect their future health. Truckers have been known to drive for miles and miles with few breaks and minimal sleep putting themselves and others at risk.

Older trucker drivers many of whom are 60+ are exposing themselves to even greater risk to their health and wellbeing. Their punishing lifestyle can take its toll on an rapidly aging body. Their health can suffer also because of their unhealthy diet and often prolonged lack of sleep.

As age decends on us all we need to give more thought to what we are doing to our bodies at work. Often works canteens and food areas provide unhealthy food which just increases the health risks further to an aging worker.

Pushing ourselves to earn more is harmful to our bodies and minds in the longer term. The mind needs sleep in order to function properly the next day and the body needs the right diet and sleep to keep from breaking down and suffering diseases and illness.

Look carefully at how your work is effecting your health today and what that might mean in the later years of your life so you can age well and with good health.
