Here is a list of some of the best excuses to use when calling out of work sick. Be careful, try not to use the same excuse twice in a row or too frequently to avoid suspicion.

Stomach Virus / Food Poisoning:

The classic excuse, you can't do any better. Telling your boss something to the effect of "I had some Mexican/bad sushi last night and haven't been able to avoid the bathroom for more than 10 minutes" not only saves you from further elaboration but also saves you from suspicion when you show up the next day looking fine… "must have been a 24 hour bug." If you have a friend as a co-worker, have them call in as well because you dined together.

Death in the family:

tried and true, just don't use it to often. If you know ahead of time that you'll be wanting some time off for whatever, spring the news of the death at work and tell them that the funeral is on whichever day you don't want to work.

My (insert pet) is ill and needs to be taken to the vet:Dog: got into some chicken bones in the trash.

Cat: got in a fight with the neighbors cat, had an abscess that burst… etc.)

Also try:

my dog is having puppies and can't be left alone.etc...you get the point by now. I fell down/slipped...the stairs slipped in the shower and can't put weight on my knee. (just make sure you wrap it up the next day and walk with a slight limp)slipped on black ice (if it is winter and cold out) etc...you get the point by now.

Dental:

A filling fell out of my tooth and I am in excruciating pain, i need to get to the dentist right away.Save the office: I was sprayed by a skunk last night (there's not much they can do about that)
