I have to confess something. I am having a bit of a love affair with Ibiza. I simply love the island in the Balearics, and I have to go back there, year after year. The simply pleasures of lying on a beach do not satisfy me. I need a complete vacation with the hustle and bustle that only Ibiza can give to me.

Best known as a summer island in the Mediterranean Sea, famous for its parties, Ibiza is not just an island where just the voguish clubbers enjoy themselves. Anyone can have fun on a vacation on the Spanish island. Here are 5 things that define Ibiza, making it interesting, apart clubs and summer parties:

1. Ibiza can be inexpensive

If it's famous it doesn't mean it's necessarily expensive. On the contrary, due to Mallorca's fresh vacation spots, the 80s and 90s styled hotels from Ibiza, in order to keep up, come out with offers and decrease prices widely. This year's prices are no exception. So if you put on one side the huge costs of some wildly-named drinks in the coolest clubs, the island is not destined just for the rich and famous.

2. The brits dominate

Theoretically, as Ibiza belongs to Spain, one would expect to feel like he is in Spain. Not necessarily. The resort San Antonio, with its "West End" district makes you think you're in a different country and it couldn't be Spanish land. There are a lot of kebab joints, Fish & Chips places, Chinese restaurants, strip joints, nightclubs and party pubs. It verily feels and seems like a Saturday night in an English mid-sized town.

3. San Penya is the gay eldorado

Ibiza Towns' San Penya area is home, during summer, to a big gay community. Armed with an open mind and high spirits, visiting it would make it an unforgettable experience. What is there to expect? Just narrow streets filled with bars, clubs and some restaurants.

4. There's also peace to be found

If you think Ibiza is a crowded and noisy island, you're right…partly. It is packed, but only in the peak season, being the months of June, July, August and September. So you have the entire rest of the year at hand for keeping it low, you won't run into masses of people and you can have the restaurants and the beaches to yourself. The months of May, June and October are the perfect combination: nice weather, sunny days and no hustle.

5. Sunsets are out of this world

One of the biggest benefits in spending your vacation on Ibiza Island is being able to watch some of the most staggering sunsets while sipping a cocktail in a café. You either choose to do it in one of the world's most famous places, like Café del Mar in San Antonio, or any other beach side café, the view is spectacular.

I hope these 5 pointers can stimulate your interest for a vacation in Ibiza. I am going back there next year, are you planning your first visit?
