Most of the companies use the cardboard boxes to make sure that their products reach their respective destinations safely without any damage caused. It is mostly used for shipping because of its strength. One main advantage of using it is that it is not only strong and durable but is equally light weight and is made of three layers of Kraft paper. The Kraft papers are first sent to the corrugating plant from the paper mills. In these plants the Kraft papers are then crimpled and glued to make the corrugated cardboards. It is further cut to give it the desired shape and size and then undergoes the process of printing on it. The cardboard boxes are then folded and glued before it is ready for use. The machines used to make these boxes are called the corrugators which is around 300 feet. There are a few rolls of Kraft paper which are used as liners and there are some which are used as the medium of the corrugators. To begin with the machine does the heating and gluing of the paper and then pressing it to form a cardboard. It is then sent for printing and writing on it after which the cardboard is cut to get the desired shape and size which is then glued to form the cardboard boxes. These packaging boxes are then sent to the companies which then use it to ship their product in it. There are different companies that use these cardboard boxes like those that ship products overseas, the different auto part distributors, toy makers and the food processors. The cardboard box is made out of raw material extracted from the pine trees. The manufacturers of the cardboard box generally own the land where they grow pine trees. They thus harvest the trees to get the raw material and the process begins by converting the raw materials into Kraft papers. The raw material extracted from the pine trees are nothing but the fibrous pulp that comes from the wood chips which is created with the help of certain chemicals. The process of extracting this pulp is called the sulfate process. After the pulp is created the fiber that remains is then put on the paper machine which then presses and rolls it and then dries it to convert it into the Kraft papers. There is another very popular way of making a cardboard box and that is through recycling. First the cardboard box is broken down and then the complete procedure is followed that is first used to make the box. The recycled cardboard box is however as good as the fresh one is and retains its quality and strength. It thus helps to avoid another tree being used to construct a box and thus helps in conserving the energies. The entire recycling process also helps the manufacturer to save on cost as the entire process of making pulp and Kraft paper is thus not required.
