Hypnosis As A Tool For Enlightenment

The modern is mind is hardened to such an extent that often meditation and prayer on their own are insufficient to lead you to a state of inner peace and harmony. In such situations, further tools are needed. One such tool is 'Hypnosis'.

One of my Masters, Osho, was questioned on his use of western therapeutic methods and tools and occasionally accused of using hypnosis to control the minds of his disciples. He did in fact admit he used hypnosis techniques, but he insisted that he used them for the purpose of dehypnotising and thereby freeing the minds of his disciples. Further, he founded a state-of-the-art Centre teaching western therapeutic techniques in Pune, India, to aid accelerated growth for his disciples. So how can you use hypnosis to aid the freeing of your body and mind from highly restrictive pre-programming?

The human body/mind is a fantastic piece of machinery. It breathes on its own, beats your heart, digests your food, and converts food into blood, flesh and bones remarkably independently of your own will and any conscious control. This has led people to believe that the route to the ideal life is by allowing the body/mind to get back to its natural state. Unfortunately, this in fact is only partly right. As we know, any system is nature tends toward chaos and therefore a very liberal lifestyle leads toward a lack of discipline, lethargy, and very often drugs. The mind/body could be likened to an office environment where, as long as the boss is in the office and appears to be in charge, everything works efficiently. But if he is away, things start slipping. In the same way, for efficiency to reign within your body and mind, you need to awaken 'the Boss' at the core of your being. It is a subtle balance between being 'aware and alert', but allowing the body/mind to get on with its job rather than being controlling. Merely understanding the process of hypnosis can help you rapidly anchor yourself in this state on an ongoing basis.

Simplistically, hypnosis is the direct connection to the unconscious and subconscious parts of your mind by bypassing the controlling conscious mind. It is critical to note though that powerful pre-programmes that are causing you grief in your everyday life could and do exist at all these three mental levels.

So let's take a look at how this works.

To begin with, take an audit of your life and where you see problems and issues. You might have problems at work, or financial issues, conflict with your family, or stress about an examination. Write all of the issues down on a piece of paper and select one for your session today. Ensure that you have defined the issue very specifically and as a 3rd party question.

Examples would be: - Why does ---my name--- always fight with his/her boss? - Why is ---my name--- not getting a promotion? - What is causing this conflict between ---my name--- and his/her mother?

The next stage is to find a space where it is quiet and you will not be disturbed for at least half an hour. Sit in a chair or lie down and feel totally relaxed. Treat the experience like you would a meditation. Close your eyes and start becoming aware of your awareness. As you sit or lie there you will notice that while your body is still, your mind may be racing around, but at the core of your being there is a 'You' that is 'aware' of all that is going on in your body/mind. Let that awareness audit your body. Notice the parts of your body that are relaxed and the parts that are still stiff. Give them permission to relax. And as your body relaxes, you will notice that your mind quietens down as well and you fall into a deep state of peace. Be aware of your breathing. You will notice that just being aware of your breathing means that the breathing will become more regular, slower, firmer and deeper. Every breath will help your body and mind to fall away until you are pure awareness. When you have reached a point where you are feeling totally relaxed, give your body and mind the permission to fall even deeper into this beautiful experience.

This is the moment when you can begin to explore your issue. Give your subconscious permission to pose the question. This could be expressed as, "----Your Name's----body and mind, why is ---your name--- not getting a promotion?". And then just be still and let the answers come. Some of the answers could be self explanatory; others may require a further question to enquire as to what you need to do about the issues at hand. "----Your Name's----body and mind, what can ---your name--- do about these blocks?" When the session is over, give your body and mind 5 minutes or so to slowly digest the new information before slowly opening your eyes and getting up.

You should find a tremendous change in your life through this process. But don't do it more than once a week as your body and mind need to take their time experimenting with the new life format and iron out the kinks in the new life strategy prior to changing anything further. Also, try to meditate on a daily basis to increase your day-to-day awareness. It is only this awareness that will keep your body and mind sharp and focussed on making these changes rather than slipping back to the good old days.

Have fun and keep me posted on how you progress or let me know if you require any further information.
