Graduation Party Ideas

Memphis Blues BBQ sounds great and it rhymes...I like it! Okay, well, let's see. A subtitle that you could use throughout (on the invites, on a welcome sign, sign-in board (book), etc., would be something like "We love the blues, but we don't have ANY over Matt getting his Masters!" Centerpieces could be imitation saxophones coming out of floras (or I did a party recently that was a BBQ and the centerpieces were those mini grills you get at a drugstore with floras you just need to add the blues concept!).

A chocolate CD as a favor personalized for him with song titles about his masters program or a real CD customized would be fun.

Well, if you do around the world, each table could be a different destination. For seating cards, I would use the balsa airplanes you could put together as kids with a tag with name and table number. The centerpieces could be hobby kits of USAF planes with balloons tied off and these can be donated in the name of any child to a local orphanage when the party is over. You might want to do a sign-in board where people can leave their good wishes with a caricature of the enlistee and a life-size cut-out of your child welcoming all at the door, dressed in uniform.

Easy to add her colors--white and cream latex balloons with white curling ribbon hanging down tied around the centerpieces. You may want to add some pink since she is a girl and the air force colors hanging from the wall or have some of them as centerpieces to go along with the theme. Instead of ribbon for the helium balloons, use lace ribbon to go with her feminine desires. To pull thru the map motif, you and put the centerpiece atop the flag that represents the destination that table is named for.

18" flags are easily available on the Internet. If they are not in your price range you could always make them out of paper and put them under the centerpieces and that way when the party is done you could throw away the ones that are ripped, covered in something, etc. If you choose to go with the ones off the internet I would suggest that you rap them in some kind of foil or plastic rap so nothing with get on them and you could use them for the next party that you want to throw.

This would be an outrageously successful party theme and all of the things you have mentioned would be doable. BUT!!! Unless you have an almost unlimited budget, the plan would be very expensive.

If you really wanted to do this party I would suggest that you get 3 other graduates and their parents involved financially and throw one heck of a graduation blast. Then all of you could have a say in something. You know one could do the food, the other one find where you want to have it, and the last one could do all the decortications. You would all get together and see how the plan would work with the ideas from all of you that are involved with the graduation party.
