The earthquake that shook Haiti to its core has inspired sympathy and prompted many to act by donating money to help Haitians recover after such a monumental and unforeseen natural disaster. Bacardi Limited donated $50,000 raised by its own employees to help the Haitians via Pan American Development Foundation (PADF). Bacardi is also striving to collect money and supplies so that they can continue to support the Haitians during this time of rebuilding and healing.

Bacardi Limited Acts Quickly to Make a Difference in Haiti

It didn't take long after this devastating earthquake hit Haiti and shocked the world for Bacardi to spring into action. The Bacardi Corporation in Puerto Rico, Bacardi Dominicana in Santo Domingo and Bacardi U.S.A., Inc., located in Florida, all pitched in and partnered with local relief efforts to try to help the Haitians as quickly as possible. These Bacardi entities helped their designated relief organization, PADF, send pallets of baby-related items, non-perishable food and drinks, and the necessary medical supplies to begin helping the Haitians cope with this tragedy.

Largely due to Bacardi's efforts and donations, Haitians will receive truck loads of emergency food and medical supplies, with relief efforts continuing as Bacardi continues to work with relief organizations to collect these items. Bacardi doesn't want the aid to stop after just one or two deliveries because the needs of the Haitians will continue to be great going forward.

Emergency shelters, hygiene packages and safe food and drink are vital to helping the survivors, and PADF enables these donations to reach Haiti and the people who need them. PADF is focused on helping disadvantaged populations of the Caribbean and Latin America by forming partnerships with the private sector, mostly corporations.

Bacardi Enjoys Playing the Humanitarian Role

This isn't the first natural disaster that prompted Bacardi Limited to dig into its corporate resources and help, and this isn't their first partnership with PADF. Bacardi donated much-needed supplies after the devastating earthquake in China, after Hurricane Katrina devastated New Orleans, and after the tsunami ripped through Southeast Asia. Bacardi's presence was also felt in the aftermath of tropical storms and Hurricanes Fay, Gustav, Ike and Hanna.

Throughout all of these natural disasters, Bacardi trusted PADF to get their donations to the right place, which is why they continue to work together.

Bacardi supports these disaster relief through its initiative Bacardi Limited Philanthropy and Community Involvement, which Bacardi started to promote its connection to the community and cross cultural boundaries to help those in need. Bacardi is still requesting donations to help the Haitians, and individuals or businesses can donate through PADF by calling its toll free number (877) 572-4484.

Bacardi Limited might be the biggest privately held spirit company, but their obvious empathy and humanitarian efforts means that Bacardi will continue to be present when natural disaster strikes.
