Thinking thin before you have reached your goal is a great way to start. Dont wait until you feel thinner, start living and thinking like you are thinner. Too often people believe that because they are overweight, they are unable to think or act like they are a thin person. If you are in the weight loss mode, you should be encouraged to build an image of what you will look like, act like, and feel like when you are thin. Some ways to do this is by putting that little yellow polka dot bikini up for you to see every day. Think about how it would feel to go shopping in the regular departments. Here are some surefire ways to get you started in the right direction of thinking yourself thin.

Pretending:

Whatever it takes, pretend that you are thin. Studies have shown that when you pretend something is true it allows a new behavior pattern to develop. You dont have to wait until the day that you are actually skinny to build your confidence and self image. You should look at yourself every day and say Boy do I look great!.

It is important to make sure that you do follow through with the diet, exercise, and weight loss program. You do not want to pretend yourself out of the important need of developing healthier habits. The approach of pretending that you are thin is meant to help you to develop new attitude about who you are. It can also give you hope about what you are going to become. So live in the manner of feeling confident and strong.

Dont Focus on being Thin

Many people focus only on the end goals of loosing weight; they just want to be thin. What is more important however is focusing on getting healthy and fit. The saying, you are what you eat holds true. Remember that food is what we need to fuel our bodies. It is not a way of coping with problems. If you are using food for that, it is important for you to consider getting some help to deal with those problems and feelings; dont substitute food for friends. Changing your diet alone is not enough to get healthy and fit, you also need exercise as part of your weight loss program. Not only does exercise help you to lose weight, but it also will help you to ease stress, anxiety, and even depression.

Adjust Thinking:

Change your negative thoughts. If you have been struggling with loosing weight, reexamine your thoughts. There is a big connection between emotions, thoughts, and behaviors. They all feed into each other. If one of them becomes skewed, then they all get out of kilter. Some good ways to change your thinking pattern is by remembering that the world is neither black nor white, there is a grey area somewhere and you should view your body that way too. Avoid comparing yourself to the perfect body. Perfect is a matter of opinion. Learn to take compliments and never dismiss them.

Pay attention to what you are eating. You do not have to eliminate all the bad foods. Just eat them in moderation. Instead of eating half a container of your favorite ice cream, only eat one scoop. You need to satisfy your bodys cravings, just dont overdo it.

To reach your goals of weight loss, you must be patient, exhibit self control, and take account for your actions. Whatever you do it will reflect in your self image as well as overall weight loss. Always remember that you are more than just a body trying to lose weight. You are you. Allow yourself to live life and not just focus on trying to lose the weight. This is a life long commitment, a lifestyle change.
