Kick Start Your Life By Traveling

Sooner or later, being an adult can really be a bummer. All the responsibility can get to you. Throw in the monotony of a 9 to 5 job, and you can find yourself in a big rut. Time to travel!

Depending on your philosophical and religious beliefs, life might be considered a one off short or something that is repeated. With all due respect, the only thing we really know is we are alive now. Put another way, we should take care to live as much as possible because tomorrow could or could not come.

While you may disagree with the details of this, the pure fact is many people find excuses to avoid really living life. In this case, I am talking about traveling. Nothing gets you out of a rut like plunking yourself down in another country for a year or so. It is a blast to the sense as nearly everything is different. In a perfect world, everyone should have to do it every two years. The planet would be a lot less violent, that is for sure.

Ah, but you are thinking you can't go travel. Well, why not? Common excuses range from the fact you have kids to you don't have enough money. Save it! These excuses have no merit.

So, you have kids. So what? Many families live abroad with kids. There are schools everywhere teaching English. It also presents your kids with lessons of perspective that they certainly are not going to learn at home. The lessons learned through living in a different culture include everything from perspective to humility to new languages to developing an inquisitive mind. If your only reason for not heading abroad is your children, you are doing them a disservice.

I don't have enough money. I hear that one all the time. What a load of… Here's is some breaking news. Other countries have economies and jobs. If you are American, you will be in demand. Big demand. English is the language of the business world, so you can expect to at least be able to teach English and make plenty of money to live. I'll give you an example.

I used to have a secretary friend that was in a major rut. Heck, I worried she was suicidal because she was in such a rut. Well, I finally got her online to look at job postings in Europe. Soon she was off to Madrid, Spain. That was 1995. She hasn't been back to the US since, except for "vacations" to see her family. All her friends are envious. Since most of them are secretaries, it is somewhat humorous since they could do the same thing. Unfortunately, they don't.

Live abroad for a year and I guarantee you will gain a new perspective on life. If you think it sounds like a good idea, look into it. Ditch whatever excuses you are using and go live life to its fullest.
