Choosing the right ezine to advertise in can be a tricky task. After all, if you make the wrong decision, you could be throwing money down the drain! Hence, it is worth spending a little time to choose the right ezine to blast out your advertisement too.

Firstly, this article assumes that you will be using a solo ads. Solo ads, although more pricey, are proven to pull much better, but if you choose the wrong ezine to advertise in, it might not really matter much which ezine you choose! This first step is very important in your ezine advertising campaign.

The two rules of choosing the right ezine are as follows: the ezine has to have a sizeable amount of subscribers, and they have to be a responsive group. If the ezine doesn't many subscribers, you won't get much results. Same goes if they are not responsive. However, responsiveness of the subscribers is more important than the quantity. You may achieve better results from 10,000 subscribers than 50,000. This is because that group may be more focused and targeted. They are subscribers who have developed a real strong following for the ezine and look forward to the next email everytime they receive it.

To further explore if an ezine is suitable for your advertising needs, you will need to find out the average conversion rates of the ezine subscriber list. Ask the ezine editor this. You will also need to ask if the ezine has a history of repeat advertisements. Repeat advertisements decrease the effectiveness of the offer as subscribers have already seen it before. This may lead to subscribers being tired of being shown the same offers and will have that mindset when they receive your offer.

The best thing to do is to subscribe to the ezine itself. Monitor the mailings for 2-3 weeks and see how it uses it's ezine. Don't skip these steps in choosing your ezine because they could prove to be very costly!
