If you are into serious weight loss and fat loss program, then the most common misconception that you are inclined to believe is that you should avoid anything that adds up fat and hence you try to eat less to the point of even depriving yourself with adequate nutrition. What you do not know is that if there are so called fat-burning activities, there are also fat-burning foods. This means to say that not all foods that you take in will cause you to add up extra calories or fats. These foods instead work the other way around by helping you boost your metabolism so you get to break the fats more intensely. Here are some of the excellent food choices to aid your workout program.

1. Vitamin C enriched foods - Those foods which are high in fiber and are vitamin enriched tend to burn fats more. Examples of these are apples, cabbages, carrots, celery, lemons, limes, oatmeal, oranges, and watermelons. Vitamin enriched foods significantly help burn fat because they have the ability to dilute or to liquefy the fat. Thus, when you couple it with an appropriate amount of exercise, the tendency is for you to burn those fats faster. Also, studies showed that eating more citrus containing foods helps increase your metabolism. Likewise, citrus like grapes also help lower down your insulin level and thus help curb your appetite.

2. The dairy foods - Also, another misconception is to associate dairy products with fats. Not all dairy products are fat producing products. In fact, most dairy fats are efficient in blocking the growth of those hormones that produce fats. These hormones are appropriately called calcitrol. Just a tip though, you need to select the kind of dairy products that you take. Preferably, you need to cut down on cheese but you can have more on skimmed milk and other low fat products like yogurt. Yogurt is best recommended since there are now a variety of flavors of this yogurt product.

3. Hot and Spicy and protein enriched foods - You know that protein helps your body build necessary tissues but not fat, and hence, the protein enriched foods have to be part of your diet. With regard to the hot and spicy foods or the jalapenos, what you should know is that these foods do not only add up a kick in your food and make it more interesting but likewise, it helps increase you metabolism so you get to burn more fats.

4. The green teas - Perhaps you wonder why many people now are into green teas and other varieties of teas. This is because the green tea and some variants are proven to have a fat burning ability and also effective in boosting your body metabolism.

5. Water - If you are determined to burn those fats, you need to know that it is not just the food that you take in that has to be monitored. You would realize that water is staple in every dietary arsenal. One of the reasons is because, when you drink more water, you tend to feel fuller and so you tend to eat less. Also, water keeps you hydrated which increases your metabolism.

The bottom line of course is that you need to couple your diet with the right kind of exercise in order to prevent a weight loss plateau.
