After weeks of speculation and people asking "what the hell is M-1?" all questions will finally be answered by the man himself. Fedor Emelianenko (26-1-0), the consensus #1 Pound for Pound Mixed Martial Artist in the world will officially announce his future intentions in regards to his MMA career.
MMA fans across the world have been hoping that Emelianenko would sign with the UFC and face Randy Couture (16-8-0) in a fight that has surpassed a Wanderlei Silva/Chuck Liddell showdown as a fantasy match-up. The only way that fight can happen now is if Couture seeks out Emelianenko in another organization, but that would mean fight fans would have to wait at least nine months when Couture's contract with the UFC officially ends.
It's already being reported that Emelianenko would fight by the end of the year in another organization outside of M-1, so if this is true, than a Emelianenko injury or loss could put the match in jeopardy.
With Mark Cuban expressing his interest in putting M-1 on his HDNet channel and an unknown financial backer for the organization, there's no doubt that they would have the funds to put together possibly the most important match in MMA history together, but the question is would Dana White let that happen if it's not under the UFC lights?
We're going to have to wait and see about that, but first things first we need to finally put the Fedor Emelianenko contract status to bed, and that'll be done this Monday at 5:30PM ET in New York City at Mark Ecko's offices.
