Elements That Make A Hotel Great

There are lots of elements that have to come together to make a hotel great. Hospitality management companies, which typically manage many different hotels, are the source of the quality of a hotel property.

Extreme Clean
One of the most important elements of a great hotel is the overall cleanliness of the property. First impressions are lasting impressions and the main lobby is a hotel's face to the world. The main lobby area is the first thing a customer sees and must be extremely bright, well-kept and clean to make the best first impression. If the main lobby is dirty or in poor repair, with threadbare furniture and carpeting, this tells the customer that the rest of the property is probably in even worse shape. The front lobby must be clean and well-kept for that hotel to be considered great.

Great Customer Service
After gauging the cleanliness of the main lobby, the next part of the customer experience is the service received at the front desk. A warm welcome is essential to creating the right first impression. If a guest receives less than exemplary service upon check in, it sets a bad tone for the entire rest of the stay. The front desk staff (and the rest of the hotel staff) must be friendly and genuine to ensure the guest thinks the hotel is great.

Generous Hotel Amenities
These days, guests expect a wide variety of hotel amenities from a great hotel. Some of the most obvious offerings include in-room coffee maker, fridge, hairdryer and iron. But more and more great hotels are going a step further and offering free wireless Internet and an excellent breakfast to their patrons. The more amenities a hotel offers, the better the guest experience. Again, these decisions are often made by hospitality management companies, and not individual properties.

Hotels that manage to fulfill all three of these categories are well on their way to being considered great. Of course, there are many other things a hotel can do to create happy guests, but this list is an excellent beginning.
