Health care offices, medical facilities and any business in the health care industry should know that advertising is an important part of developing their patient/customer base. People are becoming more aware of the choices available to them, and they are picking and choosing where they receive routine medical attention. You, regardless of the level of care you provide, must compete with all the rest of the people in your field. Doesn't it make sense to put some effort into an advertising campaign?

A New Option

Historically, direct mail campaigns have been quite successful for the health care industry. Facilities will typically mail out colorful paper flyers or postcards that explain their services and where they are located. As I said, they work - but there is a more efficient way to capitalize on that fact and get more out of your direct mail advertising dollar. Instead of delivering the normal paper postcard, business owners have realized that sending a postcard with an attractive refrigerator style magnet attached is a better alternative.

Why?

The reason lies with the intrinsic value of the magnet. The old paper products are just that. Paper. The paper postcard is often tossed into the trash just minutes after the recipient sees it. "Oh…just another advertisement," they say as they drop it into the wastebasket. The magnet, on the other hand, is something different that catches their eye. They peel it from the postcard and see the quality of the magnet. They hesitate to throw out that nice freebie they received, so they put it on the refrigerator. It's a handy item. They know they can use it.

Once the magnet finds its way to the fridge, or the computer case, or the cabinet at the office, they see it on a regular basis. Advertising professionals know that it takes a number of exposures to an advertising source before people log the information in their mind. Seeing the magnet daily give them more than enough viewings of the health care facilities information, so when they need those services, they will call or walk into the place. It's a simple as that.
