Tenneco has introduced the Controlled Electronic Suspension (CES) system on the new Mercedes-Benz C- Class that was launched in Stuttgart on the first quarter of the year.

Tenneco Chief Executive Officer Gregg Sherrill said their commitment to collaborate different concept on cars helps in the assurance that they give advanced suspension technology on vehicles plus excellent ride and handling characteristics. Tenneco Inc. was very pleased supplying the new Mercedes-Benz C-Class with their electronic suspension technology.

The CES sets the car to road conditions and also to driver actions. This results to a better comfort and stability. This further allows Tenneco to tune vehicles in order to adapt to a variety of driving factors which includes steering, braking, accelerating, and vehicle load. This, generally speaking, contributes a lot in the performance of a vehicle.

The new Mercedes-Benz C-Class, according to Daimler Chrysler, comes with refined high performance technologies that yield new levels of safety, luxury, comfort, and speed.

Chairman of the Board of Management for DaimlerChrysler AG, Dr. Dieter Zetsche, at the press conference where the C-Class was launched, said the new vehicle sets enhanced standards in terms of providing the most sophisticated driving experience in its segment".

Found at the center of Tenneco's Controlled Electronic Suspension (CES) is an electronic control unit (ECU). This processes driver inputs and data from sensors which are placed at the main locations on the car. These sensors include three accelerometers mounted on the vehicle body and four suspension position sensors. All these provide data on steering wheel angle, vehicle speed, brake pressure and other chassis control factors.

The ECU uses control software which processes the gathered information in real time and sends signals which independently adjust the damping level of each shock absorber valve. Electronic dampers permit a large range between maximum and minimum damping levels and adjust instantaneously to assure comfort while riding and firm vehicle control.

With headquarters in Lake Forest, Illinois, Tenneco is one of the world's largest designers, manufacturers and marketers of emission and ride control products and systems for the original automotive equipment market and the aftermarket.

The Mercedes-Benz C-Class, with assured top pf the line Mercedes Benz radiator, is an entry-level luxury car and is also considered compact executive car. First introduced in 1993, the C-Classis replaced the 190 range. Before the arrival in 1998 of the A-Class, the C-Class was the cheapest model in the Mercedes line-up.
