Before you begin - carefully read all washing instructions on the label.

When trying to remove any stain it is a good idea to have a clean absorbent product beneath the stain. If you are trying to get a stain off a t-shirt be sure to place an old clean towel or paper towels beneath the stain, you do not want the stain to run off onto a clean portion of the shirt. If the stain is on the front of your t-shirt, you do not want it soaking through to the back of the shirt.

It is important that when trying to remove any stain you use cold water (there are 1or 2 exceptions). If you use hot water you may just set the stain, which is the exact opposite of what you are trying to do.

Do not put any item in the dryer until you are 100% certain that the stain is completely gone. You may have to allow an item to air dry and try a different solution or re-peat a process 2 or 3 times before the stain is gone.

Ink stains

1) Ink will be dissolved by hairspray. Hairspray will come out in the wash.
2) Carefully apply a bit of rubbing alcohol to the affected area

Blood Stains

1) Rinse as much of the blood but as possible using cold water, or soak over night in a tub of cold water. Carefully apply a small amount of hydrogen peroxide to the stain, rinse and repeat.
2) Use toothpaste on the stain, carefully rub it in to the affected area and let it sit for a couple of minutes. Rinse and repeat if necessary.

Grease Stains

1) apply a paste of corn starch and water to the area let dry. Rinse off with cold water repeat if necessary
2) apply a paste of baking soda and water allow to dry rinse and repeat

Many stains can be removed using simple solutions like, lemon juice or a small amount of vinegar and water. Another good trick is to let the lemon juice soak and dry in the sunlight.

There are some really good stain removers on the market. One of the best for all kinds of stains is Dawn dish soap. This product can remove all kinds of nasty stains and is safe to use on cotton. Another good product is Oxiclean.
