Costa Rica seems to have a little of something for everyone. From soaring mountains to pristine beaches, there are plenty of things to see in the country.

One of the attractions of Costa Rica is the ocean. It is more precise to say the oceans. This small little country is sandwiched between the Caribbean Sea and the Pacific Ocean. The country is known for these sun drenched and pristine white sand beaches. With over 800 total miles of beach, it is not hard to find an isolated section of beach to soak up the sun with a bit of privacy.

The ocean is a source of another of Costa Rica's popular attractions. It is home to some of the best deep water sport fishing in the World. Fishermen can go after marlin, sailfish, dorado, wahoo or tuna. Tarpon and snook are the two most popular catches. Both coasts offer fishing opportunities and fleets of boats are available to take the fisherman to the off shore hot spots.

Ecotourism has become one the Costa Rica's leading industries and with good cause. Almost 26% of the country is protected parkland or game reserves. The variety of both flora and fauna is among the most diverse in the World. Costa Rica is said to have the highest species density in the world. Species density is the number of different species per square mile, and this concentration of exotic and tropic wildlife draws tourist to the parks and rainforest of the countries central highlands.

Costa Rica is also a land of volcanoes. There are almost two hundred volcanic formations in the country and five of them are active volcanoes. One of the five, Arenal volcano, is the site of one of the countries most popular resorts. It offers luxury rooms just a short distance from hot springs and lava flows. Nearby, Lake Arenal is excellent for windsurfing and fresh water fishing. This area is also a center for Ecotourism with nearby Arenal Volcano National Park providing hiking trips where wildlife encounters include sighting of some of the countries exotic animals.

However, the best attraction of all in Costa Rica may be the people. The ticos and ticas, as the males and females call themselves are warmhearted and friendly. They have developed a special and unique culture complete with its own music and cuisine. They have become lovers of art, theater, and culture and the performing arts in Costa Rica are among Latin America's most renowned. It is worth the trip to Costa Rica just to get to know the Costa Ricans
