In this article we want to talk about how to get targeted traffic to your website. Targeted traffic means bringing visitors to your site that really want to be there.

1. First of all let's talk about blogging. Blogging is extremely simple to do yet can be a very important way to get targeted traffic. The key is to create a blog that informs and makes people want to read it.

You do this by keeping it updated on a constant basis and providing quality information. Quality information can also include offering free things such as software, reports, e-books, and valuable tips that a person can use and would be meaningful to them.

Search engines crawl blogs on a constant basis because they love the fresh content. This can be a real benefit to you if you will constantly update your blog and social bookmark your blog post.

You can start a blog for free using either Blogger.com or WordPress.com. You can quickly join multiple social directories to bookmark your post to at Only wired.com. This is a strategy that can bring you targeted traffic on a consistent basis, if you learn how to do it properly.

2. Now let's talk about online discussion forums. Posting in forums is a fantastic way to get free traffic to your website that is very targeted. Not only is the traffic targeted, but if you take the time to analyze your site statistics, you will find that this type of traffic will spend longer on your webpages than other types of traffic.

The reason for that is they want to be there because you have properly utilized an online forum to bring them to your site. Here is how you do that.

There are thouands of active forums to be found online. Just do a search at your favorite search engine to find one that relates to the theme of your website.

Once you have joined a few forums you can read through some of the posts and get an idea of how they work. By hanging out, you can quickly see what people are talking about, and the type of questions that are being asked, which will make it easy for you to get involved.

Forums have different rules, but none of them want you to spam in them. Spamming in a forum is simply done when all you do is offer links to your website and begin posting promoting your business.

This will quickly get you banned and is not the proper way to market your business in a discussion forum. A better way is to get involved in the discussion and start to offer something to it. The other members will appreciate this and your credibility will be enhanced.

People who do the best in discussion forums are the ones who have taken the time to develop their reputation. This takes some work, but does pay off in the long run.

Most forms have a place were you can create a signature line or, what I call a classified ad about yourself, your website, and your product. You can include a link back to your website in your signature box.

If you are unsure how to do that just look at how other people are doing it and follow the ones that appeal to you. A well-written signature line is the roadmap to your website. As you build up your reputation, people will naturally want to click on the link in your signature file, and you have at that point you have received a targeted visitor for free.

Both of these free targeted traffic methods involve time. Because you may have more time than money, these are two excellent ways to get trageted traffic that can pay off for you over and over.
