Sometimes I think to myself how do I become successful in a world that is determined on statistics? Many of you are probably wondering to yourself WHAT? Let me explain.

Statistics is a branch of applied mathematics concerned with the collection and interpretation of quantitative data and the use of probability theory to estimate population parameters (courtesy of Webster's dictionary). In other words researchers are determining the probability of a situation or to group numbers to make it more understandable and visible to the naked eye.

What is the percentage of people who graduate from college? Studies show 53% of students actually graduate from college. That is out of 100%(of course). 47% of us are trying to succeed in a world based on stats. Why do people choose to go to college, based on statistics a person who graduates from college becomes more successful in life and because of the predetermined notion that after high school you must go to college? What do most people go to school and work hard to build their careers for? They want to be more successful in life.

I think people are used to statistics. Why do I say that? People think that a life based on statistics is going to determine there future. Don't get me wrong college is one of the best resources of knowledge a student can obtain. But how does these figures apply, how would we know if college is for everyone! Why aren't we in control of our own decisions? I think these decisions are determined for us years maybe even generations in advanced. 73% of the 53% who graduated are unhappy with their jobs, did not pursue what they went to college for and are doing nothing with their life (left with a huge debt).

Another reason why I feel people cannot be successful in a world that is determined by stats is discrimination. I know your not shocked that it still exists, are you? Well then you just made yourself a statistic. Why because of in denial. We are in a world that teaches being different also determines your success in life. I found this pretty interesting read below.

A couple of years ago a couple of students in college put together a study regarding the workplace. They put together a list of 1000 first and last names. Half being predominantly white and the other half predominantly black. The conclusion of the study shows you are more likely to be hired for a position in corporate America if your name is "Marsha" rather than "Maleek". Another study showed that if you are white male convicted felon, you are more likely to be hired than an African American male. How would I know this because researches did a study to find this out? This type of study can separate those who are optimistic and those who have a one-track mind.

I think creating statistics is a way for higher authority to dictate and manipulate people's mindsets and to determine there goals in life and also in the process illustrate some historical events that only "they" want you to know.

So they throw things at you like this:

4 out of 5 dentists recommend Dentine (if 4 out of 5 dentist recommend Dentine what are you going to use Dentine, because you think its the best. I thought Dentine can do what other leading brands do?)

Almost 85% of lung cancers in men and 45% in women are tobacco-related. (So that separates the smokers from the nonsmokers.)

Condoms are effective 94% of the time.

Native americans are significantly more likely to be hit crossing the streets than people of other ethnicities. (Come on)

People tend to be more persuasive when they look others directly in the eye and speak loudly and quickly. (True, due to my own research)

Women make 75 cents to every dollar a man makes when they work the same job.

A surprising new study shows that eating egg whites can increase one's lifespan. (Maybe, maybe not)

Not saying this is not true but if 4 out of 5 doctors said eating candy will keep you youthful, would you believe it? 95% of you would because according to statistics people believe what the experts believe. Most of the time they give their "expert opinion".

My expert opinion is you become your own statistic, become your own boss, and run your own business and in this case you will be responsible and you will dictate what goes on with your business and your future.

Statistics can also be a good thing. It invites you in to make you feel at home, to know that at least 95% of the world is just as crazy as you and I. You are not alone. Statistics also explains things in life to better help you, keep you posted about the world.

I decided to open my own business, become my own boss. Now I have a couple of online stores. See how I became my own statistic in my own category.

My point is in order to succeed you have to rise above things that try to keep you down. You don't need victims to be victorious. You have to have your own mindsets and goals in life, because if not you are heading away from your dreams and aspirations and going toward what everyone else is doing.

"You are in control of your Success"
