Using Messenger On Your Phone

If you love keeping in touch with your friends through instant messenger services like Yahoo! or MSN messenger, then the chances are that you also prefer to send SMS messages rather than using your mobile to chat. In the last few years however, it has become increasingly possible to connect to instant messenger services directly through your mobile phone, and save money on the price of keeping in touch.

For most Pay as you go owners and low end contract phone users, the price of a text message is about 10p once you have used up any allowance that you get. This means that for an average user sending 10-15 texts a day, the price for a month of keeping in touch with your friends can be up to £50. When other people use their phones even more, they can find that they have bills for texting of more than £100 per month.

Sending a single text to your friends in order to arrange a night out can cost £1, and this soon builds up. There is an alternative though, and this is to use messenger directly through your phone to keep in touch.

Since WAP phones first hit the market it has been possible to connect to web based messenger services and chat rooms through your mobile, and as long as you let people know when you are online, but now th3e main mobile companies have realised that many of their users prefer to use the IM service that they are most used to, and have begun to package versions of MSN messenger on their mobile phones.

Depending on the charges for data transfer offered by your mobile phone company, it is now possible to have your entire text conversation using MSN messenger for a fraction of the cost that it would be for regular texts, and the enormous benefit of using messenger rather than texts is that it is possible to connect to all your friends at the same time, and chat about things instantly rather than waiting for ages for a message to be delivered and responded to. You can also clarify ambiguous information immediately, rather than having to text backwards and forwards.

Using messenger on your mobile is just as easy as texting, although it takes a little longer to send messages than it would on your computer because they are harder to type.

If you want to start using an instant messenger on your phone rather than texting, check out whether it is compatible, and then if necessary you can download the software, and save it as you would a regular game.
