You May Lose Traffic if You Do Not Read This

What many internet users do not know is that many websites contain malicious code on their home pages. Most people never know that they are at risk. The people at McAfee have come up with a neat tool called SiteAdvisor. This is a toolbar that tells you the safety rating of the site you are about to visit. When you do a search on any search engine, SiteAdvisor automatically puts either a green check, a yellow exclamation point, or a red X next to every site.

This tool will let you see exactly why each site has its rating. It will even tell you how many e-mails you will receive per month if you sign up for the newsletter. SiteAdvisor will also tell you if the e-mails you will receive are spam-like or not. The list goes on for all of the great features of this new security tool. The most important feature is that it is free!

What does all this mean to someone who owns a website? Well let's say someone owns a site that ranks highly on Google. If they continually send their mailing list subscribers junk e-mail, their ranking will decrease from green to yellow or even red. Now people who are using this toolbar will see what their site is about and not click their link. There are plenty of other things people can do to not get a good rating. I suggest that you familiarize yourself with them, and make sure you are not currently using any marketing methods that could hurt you in the future.

I see SiteAdvisor becoming more popular in the next year or so. As it grows you will want to make sure your site earns a green check mark.
