Cell Phone Reverse Lookup Services - How To Tell If A Company Is "legitimate"…

If you want to look up a phone number and find information on the owner of the number, there are certainly a lot of services that claim to be able to do this. Like with anything else, you'll get a small number of really exceptional services, and a lot of mediocre or worse services. So let's look at some of the things to look out for to tell if a look up service is worth your money or not.

First and foremost, the directory obviously needs to have the number you want to search for in its database. Many directories that don't find anything for your search will (rather than give a "no results" message) simply give a "results pending" message, making you think that they will have the number you are searching for in their database soon. In reality, it is extremely unlikely that they'll have the number your searching for in their database in the near future, so any database that doesn't return results isn't worth your time.

Secondly, the service should include a money-back guarantee. It could be that they have information on the owner for a number you enter, but it is outdated or irrelevant. In this case, the search will be useless to you, so you want to find a service that offers a guarantee. The policy should be that if your search returns no results or gives irrelevant information, then you don't have to pay anything (it's only fair).

Another thing you can do is do a Google search on the company. If a "service" or company promising to look up phone numbers for you is an outright scam, then a Google search will reveal that. Remember, you can't hide the truth from the internet. If a company has an extremely bad reputation then a Google search will tell you that.

So if you do a Google search on the company, they offer a guarantee and they return results for what you search for, what else can you do?

Well, if the above three things are all positive, then it is a very good indication that they offer a good service well worth paying for. The final thing you can do is take a look around their website. Look at their "about us" page, and read their FAQ (if they have one). Often, you'll still have doubts in your mind, and reading these pages can give you the answers you need.
