Even if we look great on a typical day, red letter days require us to spruce up our look. Looking better than usual need not be drastic or expensive. Sometimes all we need is a new take on things. Revamping your wardrobe doesn't mean throwing out everything.

Remember: moderation is the key to following trends successfully. While it's great to look at fashion magazines and sites to get a feel of the newest trends, remember that you need not wear everything these advertise. Magazines and sites present the inspiration or the ideal for trends. If you follow everything, you end up becoming a fashion victim. Pick out a few pieces that would go well with what you have already.

For this season, the cool crisp weather allows a variety of warm garments (coats, woolen blouses, etc). Plaid coats in rich browns, hints of pink and subtle grays are all in the rage. However, these should be worn in harmony with what's underneath them. For example, don't pair a brown plaid coat with a floral blouse and black slacks. There is no forgiveness for that.

The change in season also calls for a little updating in the underwear department. While you were happily going about in your thongs and sheer bras last summer, fall calls for different lingerie. A little more coverage is needed for this season, which is not saying that fall is an "unsexy" season. If you are wearing more layers of clothes, your lingerie should emphasize your body's curves. This means that fall fashion doesn't have room for unsightly lingerie or bras that don't do anything to your look. Shapewear works well during this season. It emphasizes your curves and hides your bumps while giving you the comfort you need for the cool weather.

Another reason why shapewear is perfect for this season? Shapewear is versatile enough to be worn under sexy evening gowns and cocktail dresses, yet is flexible enough for day outfits (like trousers, sundresses, business suits). Take the Rago Shapewear Body Briefer for example, it gives moderate control over problem areas such as the waist and pelvis but is cut to help facilitate movement. It feels like a second skin with memory fabric and looks good under most fall outfits.

If you're planning on wearing a dress that shows some skin, be sure to wear lingerie that has great support underneath. Shapewear with underwire is a great alternative to the usual underwire or push up bra. If you're wearing something daring (backless, plunging necklines), the Slim Powernet Body-Shaper with Thong Back will be perfect. It has a strapless option to go with your dress as well as gives a seamless look to your behind.

Give this season's new looks (particularly Shapewears) a try. Look good for those special days. Most especially, enjoy yourself!
