Burrhus Frederic Skinner was born on the 20th of March in the year 1904. He was born in small town of Susquehanna in Pennsylvania. B.F. Skinner's father worked as a lawyer and his mother was a housewife, but strong and intelligent. He was brought up old-fashioned and hard-working. When Skinner was a boy, he was very active and out-going. He liked outdoors and building different thing, and in actual fact enjoyed school. His life was not lacking in its tragedies; particularly his brother died when he was only 16 years old, he had cerebral aneurysm.

But after all painful events, Burrhus Frederic Skinner received his Bachelor of Arts in English after having completed his education at Hamilton College in upstate New York. We can not say that fit in very well, he did not enjoy fraternal parties as well as the football games. Nevertheless, he wrote articles for the school paper, concerning the school itself, the faculty and even the fraternity of Phi Beta Kappa. In addition, he was an atheist, in spite of the fact that his school required the attendance of chapel every day.

Skinner's wish was to become a writer and of course he did try, sending off his poems and short stories. When he finished his education, he built a study in his parents' garret in order to focus but it was not working for him. Eventually, he stopped writing articles on labor problems for newspapers, and spent some time living as a "bohemian" in Greenwich Village in New York City. Then he was traveling, and after that made a decision to come back to school, this time at Harvard. At Harvard he received his Master Degree in Psychology in the year 1930, and in the year 1931 his Doctorate. He stayed at Harvard until 1936 to do the research.
