USA Early Season Snow - The Hidden Secret

Over 70 inches (nearly 6 feet) of snow has already fallen in Winter Park this November, allowing skiers travelling to the US to dust off their ski gear way before those in Europe. Winter Park opens mid November each year, giving skiers the chance to get in some early turns. Slopes tend to be empty and lift queues rare until and after Christmas week in Winter Park, with few people realising the benefits of early season skiing.

Ski resorts such as Winter Park often experience "the January Hole" after Christmas when most Americans go back to work before they have more time off for Martin Luther King weekend and Presidents Day. Some savy Brits. are taking advantage of this slower time to get in some fantastic skiing on empty pistes, with powder snow...

Chalet Bluebell and Bluebell 2, the only luxury catered ski chalets in Winter Park, open their doors earlier than most, in the first week of December: "We want to make sure our guests can benefit from the quiet slopes and amazing snow conditions" said Helen Brown, British owner of Chalets USA (www.chalets-usa.co.uk), the company which runs these luxury ski chalets, aimed at UK skiers in Winter Park, Colorado, USA.

"Knee deep powder. Each day another 10 inches of snow - great skiing!" said Andy Bush, from London, a guest who holidayed in Chalet Bluebell, Winter Park December 3, 2005.

Winter Park has gained a world-class reputation for its skiing, consists of 5 inter-linked mountains and is the third largest ski resort in Colorado after Vail and Aspen. This previously little known resort has the highest average snow record of the major Colorado resorts with an average snowfall of 359 inches of snow per year - over 30 feet. It has runs for everyone from the groomed green and blue runs to untouched knee-deep powder.

And what better conditions to learn in than the fluffy soft snow, which makes those first few falls a much more pleasant experience! The Discovery Park beginners area is roped off, saving you from the experts whizzing past and enables you to learn in peace. With the added bonus of a very strong pound against the dollar, trips across the pond before peak season are more attractive than ever.

Chalets USA are offering FREE lift passes for all skiers staying in Chalet Bluebell in the "January Hole" (holidays starting 13-27 January '07).
