Marketing Yourself

When you are marketing your business, you are marketing yourself. Everything you say and do tells the people you are talking to all about you. The first impression you make on a person is normally the deciding factor on whether or not that person will do business with you. Remember, actions speak louder than words.

There are several ways to market yourself and find direct sales. Modern technology can be a big help. Using the Internet it is not as bad as most people will lead to you believe. Really, the Internet is only as bad as you make it. If you use it for good, it can be a great tool. You can make a webpage or even a blog to help market yourself. This should be a part of your professional development plan.

A webpage is a page on the Internet that you use to let people know about who you are. You can get a webpage that is your name followed by dot com. On your own webpage, you can use pictures, stories and music that describe you and your family or company. Be sure that when you are advertising your business you advertise your website so people know all about you and who you are.

If you don't want to go to the time and expense of creating a complete website, you can also try another form of online advertising, by going to myspace.com or facebook.com and making your own page on the social network. Millions of people use these social networks daily to find new people in their area and this can be a great place to promote your business.

If you don't know how to make a webpage, or you don't know anyone that knows about making web pages, then you can consider using a blog to market yourself. A blog is like a running diary that you keep online, instead of it being private on paper in your bedroom. Like your web page, you want to market your blog so that everyone can know the real you.

In order to be successful in sales, you have to be happy with yourself and willing to talk about your self and your business to those you meet along the way. If you aren't proud of yourself, it may be time for some work on self esteem improvement. In the past this meant simple word of mouth and passing out fliers. Today, with the advent of the Internet, this also can mean creating a web page, blog or other web presence to help let more of the world know who you are.
