Why is Poker Dominated by Males

Most women see poker as the worst form of gambling with dishonesty and cheating (bluffing). Some men see poker as investing. Other men see it as a sport like kick-boxing or wrestling.Well, one reason might be the way guys act around girls at the table... I know online, every time somebody sits at a table with a picture of a girl as their avatar, it takes about 60 seconds for some sleazy degen to start trying to figure out whether the picture is actually of the girl that's playing. I've heard "is that you in the picture" like 10,000,000,000 more times when the picture is of a girl than a guy.
Seems like there's a lot of guys playing poker that see another guy sit at a table, and assume he wants to play poker, they see a girl sit at a table, they assume she wants to bang a poker player. It's not just poker. Men play all competitive games and sports in far greater numbers than do women.

The only exception I can think of is synchronized swimming.

And rhythmic gymnastics. That's it, though: synchronized swimming and rhythmic gymnastics are the only games or sports where women outnumber men. And possibly ice skating. Ice skating and maybe regular gymnastics.

Okay, with a few exceptions, men play almost all competitive games and sports more than women do. And if you think poker is male-dominated, go to a chess tournament some time. If you see any females there, they're far more likely to be girlfriends or mothers than players. And there won't be many girlfriends. Many would argue women are socially conditioned to avoid things deemed manly. Poker has always, as I'm aware, been an activity dominated by men. Home games before the poker boom, from my perception largely based on TV, movies, family, etc, were an excuse for men to escape from the pressures/ annoyances of family life and drink/ smoke with the boys.
The more women play, however, perception changes. Today, women are often encouraged to play. My ex gf and I used to play out alot. Other guys brought their gfs/ wives along to play, sometimes the other way around, so I think it is becoming more of a social norm. The female population of players is likely to grow. Promoters of the game want more women to play badly and so highlight women players any chance they can. I hope more do just to raise the general popularity of the game.
It's because they are more risk-averse than men, plain and simple. That's why mostly men are involved in the stock market, while the women just sit around waiting to know if the stock is up or down, and complain to their husbands if it's down and cheer for joy if it's up, without knowing what "long-term" means.

There are exceptions to everything of course, but women in general are not big fans of risking money on anything. All the other answers are BS, and Janelle's probably takes the cake.
