Humanhood's Oxymoron
An oxymoron is a figure of speech that combines two normally contradictory terms. Oxymoron is a word from Greek oxy (sharp or pointed) and moros (dull). Thus the word oxymoron is itself an oxymoron. And wew human beings who are not, but spirit being, are called upon (by Jesus)to REPENT! So, what does that mean? Â
Let me keep this as "technically free" as possible because that's the whole intent.
Repent is far more than to turn from your wicked ways. The concept is much more than a moralistic mandate. The simple picture of a one hundred and eighty degree turn misses the mark greatly. It's not about quit smoking, drinking, and watching R-rated movies. In our attempt to mine the jewels from the Bible, we've found the trees but lost sight of the beauty of the forest.
Like, what forest?  :-(
Life is progressive, which doesn't mean that you are always going forward. Now that's an oxymoron in itself. We have beginning and we have journeys, and of course we have the end game. Life is about spending much of the early stages in LEARNING and then the end stages in discarding what you've learned.
Say what?
To repent is more than a "change of mind", it is going "beyond the mind". For some people such a statement is tantamount to total heresay. Spirit-Consciousness is an abstract form of thought: really a point beyond thinking. If our religion or spirituality onlny comes from our brain, we're in deep yogurt! If all we can see or comprehend is PRINT on PAPER, we're saying the MAN or MIND is God.
When Jesus said "Leave ALL and follow me", it went much deeper than don't drink and don't smoke. Walter Lanyon put it this way, "We must leave all the shadows of thought and return to the soul, the Christos, which aleady knows everything it is trying to learn on the earth plane". We're Spirit-Consciousness, ONE, and here's where the OXY of MORON comes in: we already know what we're attempting to learn. We just need to remember.
