When you think about putting links on your website. It is smart to be light-handed with these. Often people have the feeling that the more links that you the better off the site will be. This logic does not hold true where links are concerned. You will see that there are many different reasons for this not being a good idea.

If you want to get attention from the search engine spiders, which is why you would usually want to add links in the first place, you can do it with just one or two authoritative links. If you have a couple of those you will be better off than if you had a hundred from less distinctive websites. The reason that too many links is bad is because it distracts the attention of the search engine spiders rather than make them more focused.

If you are concerned with the experience that people have with your website then you have to keep that in mind when you are adding links. When there are too many it is extremely distracting. You will have people that go to your site for information or shopping that will become distracted by all the links and they will end up bopping from website to website. This is really annoying for the persons that want to use your site and they keep getting sent off because of the links. It can be so bad that people will go to another website to get the info that they are after.

LINKS ARE NOT THE ONLY KEY TO SUCCESS. One of the main reasons that most websites over use links is simply because this is the only thing that they have in their SEO bag of tricks. Creating an incredible website is much more than just throwing in a whole bunch of links. Content should be on the top of your list when marketing your website. Keep in mind that relevant content that is keyword rich will rate much higher with search engine spiders and will help give you a better overall ranking with the search engines than link spamming.

People that do a lot of online searching are tired of all the spammy links that they have to deal with. You need to get attention for your website. Do this by reputable means and it will build a stronger better business. When you over link your website it makes it annoying for any visitors and it doesn't work with the search engines either.

Make sure that you don't make the terrible mistake of overusing text links on your website. To get something sweet going you need to possibly buy links and see what they can do for you.
