I offer this letter as an introduction to a lovely young woman I had the pleasure to meet some months ago. Amy is a friend of my daughter and recently spent a few weeks in our home over a summer break. Coincidentally, I was involved in our annual community fundraiser, and this dear girl volunteered to perform as part of our program. Oh, I was skeptical at first, one never knows, but I was soon duly impressed by her talent. After studying several years under your expert tutelage, I believe myself to be a good judge of ballet. This young dancer is no less than astounding.

You will see for yourself that her training has been first class from the very beginning. Her dance lessons started at age 5 where she learned to dance and develop skills she would later need for her classical dance studies. She continued training at the Northwest School of Classical Dance in 2001 under the supervision of director John Bishop. Bishop comes to the school with impressive credentials, having performed with the Milwaukee Ballet Company, American Ballet theater, and the Eglevsky Ballet. He has performed as principal dancer in Giselle, Swan Lake, Don Quixote, and Coppelia. Since, he has transitioned to the roll of choreographer and won awards in this discipline. Amy has been fortunate to have John Bishop as a mentor and to have the best of highly qualified dance instructors employed by this wonderful classical and contemporary ballet school which recently moved from Anacortes, WA to the Bellingham, WA area.

Through a comprehensive audition placement audition process, this young dancer has had extensive dance performance experience. Each year the Northwest Ballet Company produces three major productions for the enrichment and education of its students and the enchantment of sold out audiences at the Mt. Baker Theater and McIntyre Hall. Every student has an opportunity to audition and perform. With classes in barre, allegro and adagio, pointe, variations, and pas-de-duex, this performing arts dance school's goal is to prepare students for a career in dance. Six of the students of the dance company recently competed in the St. Petersburg International Ballet Competition in Russia. This unique experience included taking master classes at the Kirov, seeing the Kirov Ballet perform and touring several Russian cultural sites... Old friend, I know you will fine Amy an excellent candidate for your school.
