Miami Dolphins owner Wayne Huizenga renewed on Monday the 4th of December his confidence to Coach Nick Saban adding the fact that he does not have any plans to replace the second-year coach any time soon.

Huizenga explained that he strongly believes in Saban's ability to turn again the Dolphins into a winning machine. Now Miami are, however, 5-7 and likely to miss the playoffs for a fifth straight season, which is a franchise-worst record. As for Saban, he repeated that he did not have any interest in leaving the Dolphins to take the vacant coaching position at Alabama.

In 2004, Nick Saban joined the Dolphins signing a five-year contract and becoming the only sixth coach in Miami's history. Saban coached at LSU and Michigan State, where he won a national championship n 2003, before the Dolphins hired him in 2004. Since taking over for Dave Wannstedt, Saban is 14-14 with the Dolphins. He acknowledged that he failed to bring the Dolphins to the play-offs. But he emphasized that the team made great improvements being 1-6 this season. He also repeated his commitment to building the Dolphins back into a winner. But when he arrived in Miami, it was a great challenge to rebuild the franchise and it will take a few seasons to turn it into a consistent winner.

The Miami Dolphins have not always been a losing franchise. During a 12-year span from 1990 to 2001, the Dolphins made the playoffs nine times. Unfortunately, since this period, they're 37-39. And when Saban was hired in Dec. 2004, he inherited a team that went 4-12.
