RAGE

Trust destroyed in one lapse of judgement
Never able to forgive.
The hurt and upset,
The straw that finally broke the back.
Hurt, anger, hatred bubbling up
unable to bite back down.
Failure descends as reality sets in
couldn't protect, wasn't there.
once loved, no longer, not liked, revulsion.
Hurt and shocked look in her eyes
Confusion follows unable to digest what happened.
Tears flow freely rage taking over.
Runing for comfort in arms she know won't hurt her
reassured in their warmth.
Words tumble out, tripping over the tears.
Look of disbelief at an adult, not child.
Heart broken, can't understand what happened
Accident surely, no purposley delivered.
Hatred takes over, voice raised
accusing words spat with venom.
Why. why, why?
No answer given
Why? reaching for some kind of understanding.
Feeble reason tiredness and stress.
No excuses, your fault for the pain.
The hurt the anguish
Wave of guilt, unable to protect.
Never expected
But never say never.
Instinct kicks in
Love and protect.
Child still sobbing in fright and confusion
Clinging in fear and desperation.
Eyes flash with anger
Grip tightens determined to protect.
Monster in the doorway hangs his head
To ashamed to meet questioning eyes.
Soothing voice calming the confusion
Eyes lifted, a smile in the tears.
Don't monsters hide in the dark?
The corners of our eye's,
a shadow in the night,
the darkest parts of our nightmares.
not this time.
They don't tell you nightmares come true,
They break through and invade the daylight,
