Randy Pobst managed to survive in a battle in the early going to later motor away to his second Touring Car victory at Watkins Glen. While winning the GT race, Pobst also won both Touring Car poles and races.

On Saturday's first Touring Car race, Pobst made it stunningly easy as he broke from a pole he won by almost a second and a half. He did it after frustrating Sofronas' BMW into turn one that kept Pierre Kleinubing's RealTime Acura TSX at a safe distance as he went very closely for his first Touring Car win of the 2007 season.

The result left Kleinubing clamoring that his fellow driver was toying him in the track. But he admitted that he had to work harder though his car did an excellent job and he drove an almost perfect race.

Meanwhile, Charles Espenlaub exuded his best drive as he placed 3rd on Saturday in Tindol Mazda 6. Michael Galati also recorded his best TC finish of the year as he ranked 4th while Jeff Altenburg recorded his worst finish of the season as the 5th placer in his Tri-Point Mazda 6.

James Sofronas burst through the machines of Pobst and Jeff Altenburg who was dominating the front row and led the field into turn-one. So in race two, Pobst had to work a lot harder.

Driving his GMG/Tecmark BMW 325, Sofronas had his hands full as Jeff Altenburg committed a lapse past Pobst and began chasing the blue BMW at every turn. Pobst was all over Altenburg sticking the nose of his #73 Mazda, which was equipped with Mazda transmission and there attempting to advance up to take a turn at Sofronas. Meanwhile Pierre Kleinubing was doing the same to Pobst. As a matter of fact, they often got side by side as the action in the front four was flaming as everyone wanted to advance while Sofronas wanted to maintain their current posts.

Pobst got out of the boot and he took a peek inside of his teammate's Mazda race machines.

Like any other drivers, Altenburg kept his foot on the gas while bringing his car back onto the track. He bounced off the rumble strips and bounced into Kleinubing's Acura. Altenburg was tremendously shaken by the incident after the race while Pierre was understandably unavailable for comment as he was severely agitated because he was forced to proceed with his heavily damaged Acura to the pits with more than one repair. As a result, Kleinubing finished in as the 21st racer while his championship hopes are badly damaged as his RealTime Acura.

Pobst started to apply immediate pressure on Sofronas after the incident. Good thing is that they achieved a good second place finish. Sofronas would have been pressured by Altenburg but James would prevail for 2nd spot with Jeff finishing a close 3rd. Kuno Wittmer would survive a race long journey with Charles Espenlaub to finish with his Acura Certified Pre-Owned Acura RSX in the 4th place with Charles as the 5th with his Sparco/Oakley/Tindol Mazda 6.
